The Whistleblowing Bill

The Office of the Whistleblower Bill would require the establishment of a new body to provide guidance and support to whistleblowers, amongst other things.

Why is this Bill Essential?

Because whistleblowing is not an employment issue. Whistleblowers face punishment, not protection. Regulators look away, the law works against them, and wrongdoers walk free. This silence enables crime. It must end.

The Office of the Whistleblower

A new, independent body with real powers to protect whistleblowers, expose failings and report directly to government. It will lead the cultural shift we urgently need.

Specialist Tribunals

New tribunals with trained judges and lawyers who understand whistleblowing. No more relying on outdated, ill-equipped employment courts.

Additional Damages

Tribunals must award higher damages that reflect real personal loss and deter retaliation. Speaking up should not lead to ruin.

Criminal Sanctions for Persecutors

Make it a crime to punish whistleblowers. Fines, prison and personal accountability will end impunity and protect future truth-tellers.

Real Compensation

Whistleblowers help society. They should be recognised and rewarded by an independent body, not left to struggle alone.

Protection for Everyone

New laws must cover all citizens. No more loopholes or secrecy. If you speak up, you're protected. Always.

8.3

million in compensation paid to whistleblowers in 2020.

56

of workers are unsure of their employer’s whistleblowing procedures.

3,000

whistleblowing cases reported annually in the UK.
