Rachel Webster a retired Captain in the UK Army who served her country for over 20 years served several tours of duty in conflict zones before retiring to work in the city.

Having been recognised for her duty she one day woke up to find the police on her doorstep. What happened next was Orwellian she was arrested because she might know something. She was denied basic rights, assaulted by police and ultimately awarded compensation for wrongful arrest. NO CHARGES were brought. https://www.linkedin.com/in/missrachelwebster/
It is stories like this and those of former service personnel who have been hounded by politically ambitious men and women that have led to a situation where abuse is tolerated because soldiers, sailors, marines and the Royal Air Force are afraid of speaking up. Our National Security is at risk when those and those governed by the Official Secrets Act are afraid of the consequences of speaking up. Rachel is a leading voice calling for change and justice for those who have been punished for doing their duty working to support calls for an #OfficeOfTheWhistleblower. The team at WhistleblowersUK are continuing to campaign for greater protection and support for members of the Armed Forces community who find the courage to step forward and speak up.
Whistleblowing covers so many important issues — from sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination and ageism through to unethical behaviour and institutional failures that can impact many people across both serving and veteran communities.
“Speaking up in military environments can come at enormous personal and professional cost, which is why this work matters so much. Creating safer, fairer systems that protect integrity, accountability and those willing to do the right thing is vital.”
This particular event will focus mainly on #LawFare and the ongoing impact prolonged investigations can have on individuals and families, but this is only the beginning. Many more important topics and conversations will follow.
“I’m proud to support and advocate for this important work and the people behind it.”
