What do the manifesto documents mean for Whistleblowers?

After a number of parties released their manifesto documents this week, our CEO Georgina Halford-Hall had the following to say:

“This has been a momentous week for Whistleblowers and WhistleblowersUK. We praise the three main political parties who have each listened to WhistleblowersUK and acted on or adopted our proposals. We look forward to continuing our work and to supporting the next government to help ensure that these commitments to protect whistleblowers and the public interest will make whistleblowing work for the safety and security of us all.

We look forward to continuing our work with all parties, because whistleblowing is a cross party issue as the manifestos clearly demonstrate. It proves that whistleblowers and whistleblowing cannot be used as a political football.

I would like to personally thank the politicians and parliamentary teams who have worked with us to examine the issues and test our evidence before making these important commitments that will put whistleblowing at the top of the agenda for years to come.

I would also like to thank the team at WhistleblowersUK, the public, and our supporters and sponsors without whose support this could not have happened.”
