WHISTLEBLOWING AWARENESS MONTH #WAM2026

By 15 June 2026June 18th, 2026No Comments4 min read

This is our 4th Whistleblowing Awareness Event and the team are applying the finishing touches to the sessions which formally commenced yesterday with a lively and over subscribed Tech and AI session;

“Tech and AI – Effective Regulation in a Fast Moving World”

This event is the brainchild of the chair of our tech team Dawn Davidsen who believes passionately in the importance of ethics and bringing the next generation of innovators and thought leaders to the table as part of an ongoing discussion.

Lord Clement-Jones again took the chair of this packed session to hear from industry experts and whistleblowers in this space about the challenges facing tech workers and there proposals to shape legislation. We thank all of our speakers for giving their time because tech and AI shape the way that ethics and culture is changing. Key take aways were that whistleblowers are not a solution but part of the early warning eco system and should be viewed with the same seriousness as smoke detectors. Not only do we need legislation, policy and procedures but society and the tech industry needs to have leaders who are committed to doing the right thing which includes championing whistleblowing and protecting those who do the right thing.

For those of you who were unsuccessful in getting tickets we will be issuing a report following the event and will be running a follow-up in the autumn.

We would like to thank our supporters and sponsors for their trust and confidence in our work, in doing so being whistleblowing champions for #WAM2026.

Today we have our round table discussion on the role of whistleblowing in protecting the economy and how new industries and sectors like FINTEC can help determine policy development. This session will be chaired by Baroness Kramer who is a specialist in financial services and markets playing a significant role in setting the tone for future regulation of financial services and more widely in her championing of proposals for an #OfficeOfTheWhistleblower.

As with all of the events we will be issuing a report setting out the key themes discussed and conclusions reached. We invite anyone with an interest in this sector to get in contact with us about future events or if you need information or support regarding whistleblowing see the website in the first instance.

Tomorrow we will be holding an INVITATION ONLY event to discuss the recent UK and international policy developments regarding the way that whistleblowers and whistleblowing is recognised and the move toward a reward programme in the UK. We will be posting a report following this event setting out the discussion and conclusions. The team from WhistleblowersUK will be challenging mis-understandings and setting out why we believe in root and branch change rather than a shift to incentives. Our position remains recognition and restitution in a way that incentivises employers and organisations to prioritise doing the right thing and put the Public Interest first.

We would like to thank the National Whistleblower Centre for supporting this event and to the members of its team that have travelled to the UK to join discussions this week. We send our special best wishes and regards to Jane Turner former FBI whistleblower in her battle against cancer and her dedicated daughter Victoria Turner.

Please see our website for the events that happen throughout the month and remember to register using the red button! If you would like to join any of these events as a speaker please email secretary@wbuk.org
